Behind every thriving student is an educator who shows up with care, passion, and professionalism every single day. But to give their best to students, our teachers need support themselves—not just professionally, but holistically.
As a candidate for School Board, I believe in building a system that doesn’t just expect excellence from teachers but actively invests in their ability to sustain it.
🌿 The Human Side of Teaching
Our teachers are:
Instructors
Mentors
Counselors
Advocates
Lifelong learners
This work requires emotional, mental, and physical stamina. Supporting them holistically ensures our students receive the same level of thoughtful care.
🌿 A Holistic Approach Means:
Mental Health Support
Access to counseling services
Peer support groups
Wellness workshops focused on managing burnout
Professional Growth
Funding for advanced certifications or training
Opportunities to attend conferences and bring new ideas back to the classroom
Manageable Workloads
Realistic expectations for grading, planning, and administrative tasks
Protected planning periods that are not interrupted by non-teaching responsibilities
Recognition & Respect
A culture that regularly acknowledges and celebrates teacher dedication
Open communication with administration about teacher needs
🌿 Why This Matters to Me Personally
In my professional career, I’ve spent nearly two decades in Human Resources, specializing in benefits, employee well-being, and organizational support. I’ve worked closely with teams to design programs that don’t just check a box, but actually help people thrive — professionally, emotionally, and personally.
This experience shapes how I approach supporting educators. I understand the demands placed on staff, and the importance of having systems in place that address not just their workloads, but their overall well-being — from mental health to professional development, to work-life balance.
When we care for our educators as whole people, we create stronger classrooms — and stronger communities.
🌿 The Impact on Students
When teachers feel supported, students feel it too. Classroom environments become more positive, creative, and responsive. Teacher retention improves. Relationships deepen. Academic outcomes strengthen.
🌿 This Is Part of Our Community Responsibility
As a School Board member, I will advocate for policies that view teachers not just as employees—but as people doing deeply human work. We owe it to our students and to those who lead them every day.
Let’s put the we in people—and ensure our teachers thrive alongside our students.
